The Mets do not have a timetable for the 25-year-old ace to begin a throwing program, according to a report from the New York Post. Syndergaard was originally placed on the disabled list May 29 with a strained ligament in the index finger of his pitching hand.

Catching, for me, is the most important position on the field. It’s the only position that’s involved in every single play, from the defensive Mike Fisher Authentic Jersey standpoint, night-in and night-out. If you find an elite catcher that has sustainable potential long-term health, that brings elite tools and athleticism to the position, you start with the basis of a competitive advantage. To me, if I was starting from scratch, Terrell Davis Jersey that’s where I would start.

This kid, for me, he’s got the perfect size, he’s got exceptional athleticism, he’s got great hands behind the plate, he’s an exceptional blocker, he’s got 70 arm strength, so he literally shuts down the running game.

But there will be challenges along the way, starting Thursday. The Mariners host the Red Sox the team with MLB’s second-best record in a four-game series. After a travel day, the Mariners play three games in Yankee Stadium against the team with baseball’s best mark, followed by three games in Boston.

Ten games in 11 days against the Yankees and Red Sox may help define this Mariners team. Are they legit championship contenders who can match up with New York and Boston? Or are they merely a good team feasting on mostly mediocre teams in the past month? This should be interesting.

Nationals left fielder Juan Soto continued the fast start to his MLB career, hitting two home runs and driving in four runs in Washington’s 5-4 win against the Yankees. The 19-year-old phenom became the youngest player with a two-homer, regular-season game since Andruw Jones on Aug. 22, 1996.

Braves right-hander Mike Soroka, recovering from shoulder inflammation and making his first start since May 12, carried a no-hitter into the seventh versus the Mets. The 20-year-old hurler finished with 6 1/3 shutout innings, allowing just one hit and striking out four to get the victory.

Phillies shortstop Scott Kingery struck out in all four plate appearances in a 7-2 loss to the Rockies.
